"Hi! My name is Chris Webb, session bass player in London and co founder of The London Experiment, proud endorsee of the fantastic Fusion bags! Currently working with The London Experiment, Loick Essien, Tinie Tempah and Heatwave.
Being a session musician is very demanding on your gear. Tour buses, planes and the constant moving around takes its toll on the toughest of bags. I tried many gig bags from different companies, but all had a flaw. Too heavy, not balanced, not durable enough and, (most importantly?), not protective enough. I was pointed towards Fusion by London drummer Phil Knight, and when the F1 bag came in the post I was instantly impressed.
The protection is the best I have seen short of getting a hard flight case, and 10x more portable. The bag hugs any one of my basses tightly, with the velcro strap securing the bass around the neck to stop it falling out when opened. I have to say after the 20th or so date on a tour its fantastic not to have to be overly careful with my bass on the tour bus, I can 'throw' it on the seats or in a corner knowing my bass will be fine and undamaged, without making sure other guitars aren't resting on it etc. The padding, for a gig bag so light, is just fantastic.
I love the padding on the back as well. It shows that someone has thought about how the bag sits when on your back, and the netting stops you getting too hot.
The pockets are great, I can fit a 21ft cable, a speakon cable, a kettle lead and chord chart in the bottom compartments easily. The long top compartment is great for spare strings, and even some allen keys and a screwdriver!
The two shoulder straps never seem like they will break, and the leather fell handle is padded and easy on the hand.
Its great having a product which takes another thing off my mind when I have more important things to think about than wondering if my bass is ok.
